Comenius and Cirius

The EU Commission has established a number of programmes and initiatives to promote the European dimension in education and training.

In Denmark these programmes are run by Cirius.

One of the programmes is Comenius whose main purpose is school education and the promotion of internationalization and cooperation among schools in the 31 countries participating in the programme.

Aim of Experiencing Integration

The aim of the project ”Experiencing Integration” is to examine the possibilities of schools in various corners of Europe to cope with integration both theoretically and practically.

We intend to bring in various kinds of classes, e.g. science classes, history classes, and language classes, examine the advantages and difficulties of the greater European project and try it out ourselves in our practical work in the classes/groups, which will be working on the same and similar projects in all four countries simultaneously.

English, German, and Spanish will be used as our main languages. To a large extent the practical work will be carried out electronically, using E-mail, Chat, video, and the web-based platform Fronter etc.

Apart from getting acquainted with the schools participating, an important aim would be our students using foreign languages to describe their research and results. This would also add a practical dimension to the teaching of modern languages.

Electronic communication would be important, and opportunity should be given to groups and individual students to get into direct contact with partners at the other schools.

At the same time we will produce articles and other kinds of teaching material, useful for other educational institutions than ourselves.
